Fahrenthold wrote that “America’s new generation of moviegoers has chosen to spend its money on cheaper entertainment through Netflix and the Internet instead of spending it on tickets at cinemas like Beechwood.” With this in mind, I decided to investigate what kinds of meetups are happening around Beech wood movies so that people can be informed and possibly show up to one.
Here are 12 meetups that you should attend:
1) The Columbus Movie Addicts Meetup
The Columbus Movie Addicts is a group that meets every month to watch movies at different locations in Columbus. The first and most obvious location they will meet at is Beechwood Cinemas. 2) The Beechwood Cinema Fanatics
This Meetup was created in December 2014 by the Beechwood Cinema Fanatics, a group for people who love the cinema, and want to enjoy it with others. They discuss Beechwood’s social aspect in an informal way. Many meetups are planned that are open to the public, but their most recent one was on the 14th of December at the Beechwood Cinema. 3) The Columbus Movie Reelers Club
The latest addition to this club is definitely the one on January 31st. “The Columbus Movie Reelers Club” is a group that watches movies at different locations in Columbus. This time they will meet in Beechwood Cinemas. 4) The Columbus Moving Images Meetup

5) The Art House Theater & Movie Lovers Meetup
The Art House Theater & Movie Lovers Meetup mainly focuses on watching movies at different locations in Columbus throughout the year. On January 28th, they will be meeting in Beechwood Cinemas to watch the movie Lion.
6) The Columbus Animation Arts Festival (“CAF”)
This will be their 10th annual event. “CAF” is a festival that provides live, local animation screenings and animation workshops for people of all skill levels. There are many events planned for this festival, but the one most of you would be interested in is the one on January 15th. 7) The Columbus Young Professionals Meetup

9) The Columbus Cinemas Meetup

10) The Columbus Sci-Fi & Horror Film Festival
This is the first of its kind. Sci-Fi & Horror Films Festival is a film festival which has been held for the past two years at Beechwood. The two days that this event will be happening are Thursday, December 1st and Friday, December 2nd. The films being screened will be in a projection room inside the theater.
11) The Columbus Movie Marathon Meetup
This is the most recent addition to this series, and it will be happening on Saturday, January 17th. They will be meeting at the Beechwood Cinema for a 12 hour marathon. The movies will start at 6:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm.
12) The Write-In Meetup
The Write-In Meetup is a place for people in their 20s & 30s who don’t want to go to a movie but still want to hang out with friends. They are not going to a movie, but they are going to meet up in Beechwood Cinemas Afternoons & Weekends to write short stories.
