This is a detailed guide of what alchemist builds are currently viable, what to build when levelling up, and where to get started.
Alchemist code tier list :
1.Offensive motionless alchemy (Stronger but less fun) –
No longer viable due to nerf on potion of strength/might/magnus/potency, and potion of health being nerfed from 500 to 350 charges .
2. Protean Potions –
Pros: very high damage, easy to gear, fun to play, does all map mods(including blood magic). Can do all bosses. Endgame viable.
Cons: only has 35% chance to activate on enemies so it may take a bit longer than other builds on kill speed compared to Fumus or offensive motionless builds.
3. Defensive Alchemy –
Pros: Very high defense, good for new players or players who want to go longer on their hunts. Does not use protein potions.
Can do all bosses except the ones which are immune to bleed(Barbatos for example). Can do all map mods including blood magic.
Cons: Damage is lacking compared to offensive builds eg protean potions, but it is still above average. Pre-nerf it can do t14/t15 bosses well, but after the nerf it isn’t as effective as offensive builds(see below) for killing bosses.
4. Fumus +Defensive Potion Build –
Pros: high damage, very high defense, easy to gear, can do all bosses if you play it right.
Can do all map mods, but magic find isn’t a huge bonus because it stacks with a lot of other stats. Endgame viable.
Cons: Requires a lot of card/ring sets which many people don’t have or want to prioritize socketing for other pieces before parchments/levelling up rings/jewels for this build.
Boss kills are slower than other builds as well as the lack of potion(which helps with boss killing).
5.Offensive Motionless Alchemy (with Ranged) –
Pros: high damage, very high offense, easy to gear, can do all bosses if you play it right.
Can do all map mods, but magic find isn’t a huge bonus because it stacks with a lot of other stats. Endgame viable(can kill map bosses).
Cons: Requires a lot of card/ring sets which many people don’t have or want to prioritize socketing for other pieces before parchments/levelling up rings/jewels for this build. Boss kills are slower than other builds as well as the lack of potion(which helps with boss killing).
6. Offensive AoE Alch –
Pros: high damage, can do all bosses if you play it right.
7. Bismuth/Hydra build –
Pros: Can do all bosses if you play it right.
8. Fumus + Offensive Potion build –
Pros: high damage, very high offense, easy to gear, can do all bosses if you play it right. Can do all map mods, but magic find isn’t a huge bonus because it stacks with a lot of other stats. Endgame viable(can kill map bosses).
