The most common issue with baseboard cleaning is that the dirt and grime is either just about everywhere or it is still stuck to the wall. Either way you have a large mess.
To combat this, one of the main ways to clean baseboards is to use a special sprayer attachment for your vacuum cleaner. The sprayer attaches to a hose and sprays the dirt out of the wall onto the floor.
If you have the right attachments for your vacuum cleaner then it can be a relatively easy task to clean up the mess left behind by your vacuum cleaner.
I think it’s a great idea because a lot of people use vacuums and not just baseboards and carpets. I have never seen any baseboard that didn’t have a large amount of dried up old dirt. You can also use a paint brush to push the dirt off the wall and onto your floor. A vacuum cleaner attachment will also help dry the dirt, as well as helping to keep the wall clean and free from dirt.
The vacuum cleaner hack is also a great way to clean up the mess left behind by paint stripper and other hard cleaners. Just keep in mind to remove any dust from the paint stripper before using it. If you plan to use a paint stripper, it’s recommended that you wear a mask so you can safely remove any dust from the paint stripper.
A lot of paint strippers are sold with a screw top lid. Don’t use this lid because the screw is too small to prevent the paint stripper from penetrating the baseboards.
If you plan to use a paint stripper, first remove the top screw from the lid. Use a screwdriver to remove the top screw from the top of the stripper. Then use your nail clippers to remove the screw from the stripper. Lastly, use a knife to remove the lid and the screw from the stripper.
The screw top lid on a paint stripper is actually a really bad idea. The screw lid is too small to allow the stripper to go inside the baseboard. It is very easy to remove the screw lid, but the stripper will still get in, which can be dangerous.
Another danger you may not realize is that the stripper itself can cause the baseboards to be scratched as the stripper makes contact with the baseboards. The more you use this stripper, the harder it is to pull the baseboards out.
A great way to prevent this from happening is to take a thick piece of cardboard and put it on the top of the baseboard. That way, you can keep the stripper in while you use the piece of cardboard to pull the baseboards out.
