I’ve been out of the game for a while and have been thinking a lot about how I want to spend my time.
When I first heard about donation pick up okc, I thought that it would be a way to give donations to my favorite charity. I would just give a donation in the game. But then I found out that its a system where you cant give anything more. So I had to come up with a slightly more complicated method.
Ive been doing some research for the last couple of days and found out that donating in the game is like a donation on my taxes. So Ive decided to just pay my taxes and donate in game to my favorite charity(s).
It’s actually pretty easy. Just purchase a new item and give the charity a donation in game.
This is pretty simple to do. Just go to your game and look for the item you want to donate. Then go to the item page, and click the little donation button. You will then get a screen showing the amount you can donate and a link to click. Then click the link and you will get a message saying that you have won the item. You can then buy the item then give it to the charity.
That’s about it. It is still a bit unclear if the items donated are actually legal to use, though.
It’s not legal to sell items from your personal inventory to anyone. So in theory you could theoretically sell a bunch of legal items to someone and then say they can use it to buy anything, but you have to check the items that are available before you can start using them. Another thing to note is that in the game you are limited to having 3 active items at a time. So if you run out of items, you won’t be able to purchase other items.
That’s like a legal loophole in the game, a little like the one thing that keeps the game from working with the EULA.
So let’s say you have something like a box of tissues that you want to donate to a woman who lost a child in the recent earthquake in Oklahoma that killed thousands. The best way to get her to take you up on your offer is to go and buy tissues from a convenience store. It’s a little like the old saying, “You can’t buy a pig in a poke, you gotta buy one in a poke.
One of my favorite lines I’ve heard in a long time. I’d like to think the game makers have the common sense to realize that everyone has a need for tissues and that buying a pack of tissues is basically a form of “thank you” for the woman who lost a child, but in reality, we all just buy a pack of tissues from the convenience store and leave it at that.
