In any given year, a lot of people forget to save money. That’s not because they lack the knowledge or the means. The biggest reason is simply that they are busy and don’t see energy for reign drink logo savings as an immediate priority.

Let me lay it out: If you save your energy usage, you will rarely have any outages and won’t need to pay high electric bills ever again. You’ll also limit your carbon footprint and help put an end to pollution in our air.

1. Solar energy

Solar energy is a natural resource that has been used since ancient times. It is the star that we live under, and the stars that we see at night. It is the resource available to us 24/7, and it’s totally renewable.

Solar energy is basically converted light from our nearest star, the Sun. We have been using solar energy for eons from conventional sources such as sunflower seeds (for food), to distillation of water (for hydration) and also in early civilization for cooking food.

It’s only recently that mainstream society and business has begun to take up solar power as an essential part of their day-to-day life, which will continue for generations to come.

Sunlight can be converted into usable energy for our electronic devices and lighting systems. Just about every electronic system that we have today has a solar powered charging device in its package.

The energy from the sun is very clean in that it does not leave any toxic residue, unlike the fossil fuel used to power other sources of energy such as oil or coal, which pollute the environment and contribute to global warming.

2) Wind Energy

We all know what wind is – it’s that breeze you feel among trees, palms or by bodies of water. Wind is generally created by warm water currents under the ocean and hot air over land masses such as Africa and Asia.

It is very renewable. The sun warms the Earth and creates the warm currents that bring surface ocean waters to the surface, where rain falls and winds lift them up to create air currents.

There are tens of thousands of wind turbines in operation around the world as of today and more being put in all over.

3) Geothermal Energy

The sun warms up geothermal energy deep underground, driving it upwards through a network of pipes bringing heat from below-ground to surface water or steam generators that produce electricity.

In geothermal power plants, water is pumped through large underground heat-transfer loop systems in an effort to provide the required temperature for power generation. Note: these plants are generally on land and not underwater.

4) Biomass

Biomass is the form of energy created by plants. They are a renewable source of energy that can be burned to provide power. The most common type of biomass is wood, charcoal, and wood wastes. In fact, some countries use more than 50% of their electricity production by burning wood.

5) Hydroelectricity

Hydroelectricity is obtained when water falls over the edge of a waterfall in a hydroelectric plant or through natural underground formations that contain streams rising to the surface. A dam creates a reservoir at the top of a hill, and thus produces electric power without consuming any additional mechanical energy or fuel – it is an entirely zero-emissions energy source.

6) Wave Energy

Wave energy is an important form of natural energy that many scientists are trying to harness for beneficial use. Wave power devices are based on the concept of converting wave motion into usable energy.

Special devices called wave-to-energy converters capture the kinetic energy from waves and convert it into electricity by using technology such as water wheels or turbines.

7) Energy Saving Tips

There are many ways to save energy, from using LED lights to dimming your lights when no one is around and even shopping around for better deals on your utilities. Here are a few valuable tips below:

A) Buy smaller appliances if you currently have larger ones at home. Everything you own that generates electricity is using energy. The refrigerators, air conditioners, ovens, and other appliances in your home are using power during the day and at night to cool the rooms or keep them at a certain temperature.

B) If you have an old-style thermostat that turns your AC on and off based on the hours of day, make sure it is changed to an electronic model. This will save money in the long run as you won’t have to run your air conditioner whenever you’re out of town.

C) Lower light-bulb wattage can also be used to save energy because they consume less energy than light bulbs that are brighter. D) Turn off electrical appliances that you do not use, especially those that do not use batteries.

E) Use your clothes dryer sparingly. If you have a line outside to dry clothes, then hang them up instead of placing them in the dryer. Otherwise, you could save up to $80 a year by doing so.

F) Switch out your old water heater with a new energy-efficient and tankless one. Doing so will save money and time because it will require less fuel and less electricity to heat your water supply, which is one of the biggest electrical energy consumers in your home at 25%.

G) Use wood or charcoal for heat instead of the gas or electric stoves. It is much cheaper, healthier, and will not release ash into the air.

H) If you have cats or dogs at home you can use a cat litter box to flush your toilet that will save you tons of money on kitty litter as well as save a few trees as they are made from recycled paper!

Summary:

Wind and solar power are very promising sources of renewable energy that will continue to grow. Biomass, geothermal, and hydroelectric are also great resources that we can use to create low-cost energy and reduce emissions.

Just note that we need to continue investing in developing these areas for us to make it sustainable for the entire world. Otherwise, what’s the point?
