The world of business is always changing, and the tools that we have available to help us work with it are constantly evolving. Some of these changes include the growth in big data and analytics, the “Internet of Things” connecting everything from our clothes to our cars to each other, and, most importantly for your potential career as a Business Analyst: Artificial Intelligence (AI). Business analyst intern capital one is one of the leading companies using artificial intelligence.
You may be wondering, what could I possibly have to do with me? The answer: quite a lot, actually. What I want to do in this post is not only to explain the role that Business Analysts are going to play with respect to artificial intelligence, but also cover some basic definitions, concepts and examples. Then we’ll have a quick look at the future of AI from the perspective of business analysts. Questions are flying around about how will it change your job and for you we will be able to find answers about it.
So, what is AI? Gartner defines it as “any technology that uses data to automatically drive performance and make the right decisions” and that’s not a bad explanation for someone who has never even heard of AI before. In short, any time your computer is making decisions for you, it is using AI (or at least something similar). For example, when a program can re-rank search results based on your past behavior or preferences, that is AI. Any time you play against an opponent who uses some sort of optimization algorithm to “learn” from previous matches in order to predict what you are going to do next, that is AI.
How Will Business Analyst Be In The Future :
1. AI Gets More Intelligent
The first and most obvious way that AI will impact business analysts is by getting smarter. Every year that passes, the amount of data that businesses have is growing, while the cost of storing it decreases. While this is happening, our ability to utilize that data to make better decisions is becoming more impressive. While this may not sound like a huge deal to you, the average user, it will mean a lot for Business Analyst jobs in the future. Being able to compute large datasets more easily means that companies can hire less people for the same work (which we will get into later), but also makes it easier for them to use analytics which could help boost their bottom line.
2. AI Learns Your Habits
AI is also getting good at learning your habits and making decisions based on your data (or aggregated data, if there are other users as well). For example, you can use a chatbot to manage your sports apps. If you use this app to schedule a meeting, the program can’t remember whether or not you previously requested to be notified when a specific person joined the group. It might even adjust the notification settings accordingly so that you don’t get multiple notifications for the same message.
3. AI Will Lead To Accurate Predictions
AI is also getting very good at making accurate predictions about humans. Companies such as Facebook and Google have invested a lot of time and money into their AI’s ability to learn how to predict things that they can think of more complex ideas (such as the next word in a sentence). This will make it easier for Business Analyst jobs to come up with ways to improve their bottom line by correctly predicting things like customer purchases. Which brings us…
4. AI Makes Business Analyst Jobs Better
Let’s face it, Business Analyst jobs are never going to be hard work when you get right down to it. There are just too many advantages to being able to use computers to make decisions that humans don’t want to make. Companies will get less work done (which is a great thing for you and all the other Business Analyst jobs out there), but also be able to spend more money on advertising and other tools. Plus, the things that a Business Analyst does today could even be automated in the future so that no one needs the skills required for such a job, at least not in the majority of cases.
Final Thoughts :
While it may seem like AI is going to take away your job as Business Analyst, this is not necessarily true. It is more likely that you will have to take on more challenging tasks and even different responsibilities in your job. Which is another reason why it is so important to understand the importance of education. The world of business has no clear path for the future, at least not one that we can predict, but this means that there are a lot of reasons for business analyst jobs to exist.
