laundry room and kitchen storage are always in high demand. The laundry room is where you put all the dirty clothes after you’ve washed them and dried them, and the kitchen is where you cook, bake, and keep the house running smooth. This is also the place where you put all the dirty dishes. There are so many different ways to organize the space, from what you put in it to how you store it that affect the way you feel and think about your space.
In the kitchen, you would typically use a plastic bag to hold your dirty dishes, then organize your dirty clothes in a hamper (more on that below). In the laundry room you might use a similar technique, then organize your clean items (washing powder or other cleaning products) in a large, shallow plastic bin. The last step is to put your dirty clothes in the laundry room’s sink and put your clean clothes in the bathtub.
Sometimes this laundry room storage is necessary. I was recently cleaning the bathroom and found a stack of dirty clothes in the laundry room sink, so I grabbed the clothes and threw them in the laundry room sink. This seemed to stop the water from flooding the dryer and washes the clothes, so I didn’t have to wear a long shower cap to wash my clothes. I did have to turn the water off though, because I was too busy trying to scrub my hands clean.
When it comes to storing your dirty laundry, the best thing to do is to keep it out of direct sunlight. I know this seems obvious, but it really is a good idea. If you have to keep your dirty laundry in a place where the sun is shining on it daily, you will end up storing your dirty laundry in a place that is warmer than your clothes and gets sunlight all day. This also helps to keep your laundry clean as well.
There are other ways to store your dirty laundry though. You can use a plastic or metal basket that doubles as a drawer. Or you can use a zippered or ziplock bag that acts as a garbage bag. In either case, the key is to make sure the bag is secure.
There are so many different methods for keeping your dirty laundry clean, that I will just talk about the three that I have found to be the most effective. The first is a plastic or metal laundry basket. You can put your dirty laundry in this basket at any time of the day. Your laundry is only wet when you wash it, so keep it dry. Since the basket is a container for wetness, it will keep the wetness from seeping out.
This method is also helpful if you have a load of laundry that you never take out. The last method is to use a dryer vent or chimney. A dryer vent is an opening in the wall that allows air to flow through. The vent is also a way to vent the heat from your home. Chimneys are similar, but they are designed to be higher up so that the air that flows up can condense and dry out your clothes.
Using a dryer vent or chimney for drying your laundry will help prevent all that “air condensation” that you have to deal with when you have dryer vent or chimney problems.
If you use dryers on your clothes and don’t have a chimney or vent, the only way to store your clothes is to store them directly in your dryer basket. While this may be a solution, it is not very practical.
A dryer vent is a small opening in the wall or ceiling that helps keep your clothes dry. A chimney is another opening used to cool your home, but it is different from a vent and is designed to be higher up. When you have to store your clothes in the attic or a basement, a vent is definitely the way to go.
