It seems so simple to organize your closet. It is also the easiest way to organize your closet. Whether you have a couple of pairs of jeans in your closet, or if you have hundreds, it’s doable. But when it comes to organizing your closet, there are three areas to consider.
First, keep it easy to find. When you have multiple people using your closet for everything, your closet is only as strong as its weakest link. If your closet is too cluttered with items that you don’t use, then your closet is going to become a storage space.
I have a closet full of old clothes. I have dozens of pairs of jeans that I use for casual wear, along with a bunch of shirts and a couple of sweaters that I use for work. I keep the clothing separated in categories for easy access on a daily basis. The problem with this is I have tons of shoes in my closet and just have to figure out where to put them to save space.
It’s the same with your home. You have to make sure you have storage for your things, so you can get to them when you need them, and organize it in such a way that you can find it in the future. It’s not easy, and you can easily spend hours trying to figure out what you want to store in your home. When you start building your home you should have a set of rules that can help you figure out what belongs where and when.
If you want to organize your home in a way that is a bit easier to locate and find in your future, you probably need to use a linear organization system.
A good rule to follow when organizing your home is to make sure that anything you want to store in your home, you want to store there in a specific place and then only move it as necessary. You can make things easier to find if you put them in specific storage locations.
The idea of storing stuff in specific locations might sound like something you’d have to use a computer to do, but it’s actually something very easy for your brain to do. If you want something to store in your house, you probably want it to be in your kitchen. This idea of being organized by location (and not by name or category) is one of the most important ideas about organizing your home, and it’s especially important for older homes.
This idea of organizing your home by a specific location actually goes back to ancient times. Before the advent of electric household appliances, we used to store and organize our home using specific rooms and specific storage locations. This type of organization has all kinds of benefits, some of which I will describe in more depth in my next article.
However, that’s a very old practice that doesn’t apply much any more. Today we have the convenience of computers and cell phones that allow us to find exactly what we need at the exact location we need it. But the advantages of using a combination of location and not by name or category are that this allows you to organize your home in ways that more effectively fit your needs.
We are now used to being able to know exactly which room we are in with the right combination of books, clothing, and other objects. This is a great convenience, but it is not the most efficient method to organize our home. If we had a digital filing system (like we have on our laptop computers) you could set up a hierarchy or index of rooms and areas in your house.
