I am a huge fan of organized home storage. I’ve always been obsessed with the idea of being in a place that I could easily access items from one place to another, and I think that organizing your dresser drawers can be a great way to do that. There are great resources out there for how to organize your dressers, but I decided to make it a little easier for myself by building something that is completely DIY and not relying on a contractor’s help.
I love how organized my dresser drawers are. I don’t need to use a contractor to install them, but if they ever need replacing, I can just have them replaced myself. And they are still easy to find, just by placing them in your closet.
I know a lot of people use contractors to install storage and do custom work, but I’ve been building my own dresser drawers for a while now and have found that it’s actually pretty easy to do on your own. Just take a bunch of old drawers and cut them to the appropriate length, drill a hole through them, and attach the hinges.
This is great if you just want to find a contractor to do the work, but if you want a professional who will actually do the work and come back and do their job well and safely, this is the way to go. I use this method myself when i need to change something in my kitchen or bathroom. I just need to find a place to put them, and they are easy to find in my closet.
The biggest problem with this particular method is that you will need a drill to complete the process. I’ve already mentioned that this is one of those things that seems like it should be simple but is actually very hard to do. The biggest problem is that you are actually drilling a hole in the wood so the drilling press won’t fit through it. It’s a real bummer as it is what would normally be a pretty easy DIY job.
The drill press is a bit of a rarity and is a bit beyond the scope of DIY-ers. You will need to hire a professional. Some DIY-ers will argue that drilling is necessary and it is, but there are many reasons why this skill is so difficult to master. Here is a list of DIY-ers I have met who have mastered it.
To drill a deep drawer, you need to insert the drill bit into the hole and pull it out using a special tool called a drill press. The drill press is what you will use to drill the hole in the wood. You need to use a drill press for this, and its a real pain in the ass. Because its a major skill to have mastered, I suggest that you save it for a really long time. I can imagine this skill will get easier over time.
I have also met a few people who have managed to drill deep drawers. It’s not very fun either, but you have to do it at least a couple times, so you will get better.
You can also use your drill press to screw on cabinets. This is where I have met some people who have managed to drill deep drawers in the cabinets themselves, which is super fun.
