I have to give my friends and family credit for this one. They are awesome. I have to thank my wife and children for being supportive during this process. They have the strength and confidence to stick with me while I am working through things.
As with everything in this world, I can’t say that I’ve “saved” my children. I have saved them because they are me. While I can make them better than they were today, they can’t be different than they are now. That’s okay. That’s the nature of miracles.
I have been able to learn this lesson myself. I have learned that if you want to be successful with your children, you need to set expectations early and be prepared to let out the reins. You can help your children be happy, but you can also help by giving them the skills they need to succeed.
This is the gist of the argument put forth in the new trailer for Salvation Army vs. Goodwill (which you can watch below). Salvation Army wants to be the kids’ favorite, and Goodwill wants to be the parents’ favorite. In fact, both want to be “the best” if they’re successful. The main problem, though, is that Salvation Army is the only organization that has the capacity to truly “save my children.
The reason this trailer is so compelling is because it’s an excellent visual representation of the world of children’s development. It shows how kids’ needs vary from wanting ice cream to wanting to play outside. I feel like the visuals are so good because of this. The trailers for every game have a similar idea behind them.
I can’t emphasize enough how much these trailers are going to help us understand how some games work. The idea is that you play a game, you make a decision, and then the game comes to life. That’s why the game can change every time you hit the play button. The game is the same regardless of whether you play it the first time or the fifty times you play it.
Like many developers, Arkane’s first reaction to the trailers was to deny they were even talking about a game, rather than being as excited as we were. This resulted in most of the trailers being in the “not for me” category. But it could be that some of these trailers are the first real indication that Arkane is actually talking about a game. It’s also possible that the new trailer is simply a teaser for a game in development.
The trailer for Salvation Army, a new zombie biker combat game, is a good indication that Arkane and Respawn are actually talking about a game. I can’t tell if this is really a game or a teaser for a game, but it’s definitely not a game we’ll ever play.
Salvation Army is a good teaser for what Arkane is building and one that’s worth the price of admission. That being said, I can’t help but feel like they’re just making the game up, trying to get attention by being vague about the game. It’s also hard to tell if they’re really trying to build a game or are just going for the same old, same old.
I think theyre trying to create a new game, in the vein of Halo, but with the same ideas and setting. It wouldnt take too much to make a new game of that, but im sure the world would be different. I feel like Respawn is trying to create something that will be remembered as the first game that had an Arkane-like setting.
