When it comes to law enforcement, there is a lot of information you should know and understand. It’s important to know how to interact with them, or else you could face consequences of a drury law enforcement academy. This list contains just some of the most stand-out features that law enforcement has:
1. Unbendable rules
They won’t change the rules just to help you out. They have a very strict set of guidelines they have to follow and nothing will get in the way of that. They also don’t take a lot of excuses either. If you have a reason for your actions there better be some proof to back it up or else they won’t listen.
2. They are in control
There’s no arguing with them or making demands, and if you do it can only make things worse for you than if you were to simply comply with their orders. You may think their actions or commands are unfair, but that’s no one to argue against them because they are in charge.
3. Fear-based behavior
They won’t hesitate to use fear and intimidation tactics; they are trained, and they use it to keep you in line. They know how to shock you into leaving the scene or scared it could ruin your life.
4. Badges = Power
There’s no doubt if you see a badge you better not question or argue with them because they have that power, and don’t forget it. Getting away with a crime is hard enough when the police aren’t there, but when they are then it gets difficult because of their authority.
5. In charge of everything
If an officer disobeys a rule, policy, or law it is their responsibility to report them for doing so. Right down to if they are drunk or in the process of boozing. It’s not that they’re trying to find out if you’re a criminal, but it is their job to make sure everything goes according to their rules.
6. Vigilantes
They know how dangerous someone can be when they don’t have fear, and there are times when you’ll be on the run from them so, best not get on their bad side. Also, you can never be too careful when being chased by them and don’t forget whom these cops work for: YOU!
7. Judgmental
They know all your dirty little secrets and won’t hesitate making judgments based off of them. You will never be off the hook for their own personal opinions of you; it’s not personal, it’s strictly business. If you’re in their sights, then you’re in their court.
8. No mercy
If the officer doesn’t get his way or doesn’t like someone, or there is something about them that catches his attention than he’ll usually leave it at that, but sometimes a cop will make things worse for them without any hesitation. If a cop is looking for an excuse to stop you and follow you up on a case then they’ll do it and if they catch someone doing something they don’t like they have no problem arresting them.
9. High-tech/Lie detection
The way they use technology to find a crime scene or fingerprints isn’t to troll you, but it’s there to catch the culprit responsible for a crime. They don’t need proof of anything because they’ve got the evidence from the crime scene, fingerprints, and witnesses on record. That’s enough cause for them because that’s what it’s there for.
10. ‘Hands on’ approach
They are always going to be right in front of you; most officers will follow you at all times so they can see exactly what your doing and watching you at all times is going to make things more complicated if they’re not careful.
11. “Blessed with the gift of knowing”
They know what a guilty person looks like and know when someone is trying to pull one over on them. No matter what your intentions are, it doesn’t change what they see and you’re pretty much just getting away with an act.
12. It’s not personal
Telling a cop that something is personal doesn’t mean anything to them because it makes no difference to them; they will do whatever they want with or without a personal grudge, they don’t care because it’s not their job or business to care.
13. They have consequences
When a police officer does something, there will always be some form of consequence for their actions. Whether it be a demotion or even termination if they tried to do something out of line.
14. Putting in the time/dedication
If you’re going to work for them, then you better be ready to put in the time and dedication because it’s not just a job; it’s your career, so don’t expect them to change their ways or slow down just because they are getting old or need to retire. They won’t let you slide or let anything get in the way of doing their job.
15. Not afraid to take charge
They aren’t afraid to take the lead when needed and won’t give up just because someone says so. They will do whatever they can to make sure their department is running smoothly and by the books.
16. They have answers
If you ask them a question, they will always have an answer for it, whether you like it or not. If they don’t, then they’ll find out right away because their job is not to figure out why but to find out the truth and who did what.
