Honestly, I cannot count how many times I have had an event hangover because someone drank too much one night and then went straight for dessert at brunch with co-workers the following morning.
While I don’t think that it’s always healthy to eat too much junk food, eating a heavy meal before drinking will make you feel less dehydrated.
2. Make sure you are eating some protein
Some of the worst pre-event meals are full of carbs with little to no protein. While I love carbs, they are more fattening but also more satisfying than protein.
When your body is looking for energy, it’ll often turn to carbs first—making them less filling and more likely to be stored as fat.
A good pre-event meal will have both carbohydrates and some protein so that your body can use that fuel it needs without storing fat or being uncomfortable the next day.
3. Eat healthy fats
The best pre-event meal will have a good balance of carbs, fat, and protein. While it’s easy to go for too much protein, don’t be afraid to pile on the healthy fats.
I like salmon for its omega-3 fatty acids and chicken breast with its chicken soup high in vitamins A and D. My family also loves avocado toast! Think of it as omelet leftovers.
