This is one of the most used pieces of advice that any home-improvement professional will give you. Vertical organization is the art of organizing your space into two, three, four, or more divisions. For example, your bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living area, and sleeping area could all be organized into two, three, four, or more divisions.
Vertical organization is a great thing, but it’s also a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you can organize stuff into different groups that work together to make your life easier. On the other hand, you can organize your life into different groups that don’t work together, and that can make your life even harder.
Vertical organization is great. It’s something that most homes have. However, if you start organizing your life into different vertical areas, you are going to find that you have more stress and less control. So a better way to organize your life is to create vertical areas that aren’t strictly vertical.
This is also an obvious one. You can make your life easier by not having to do everything in one vertical area. For instance, if you have to maintain your home, you can create a different vertical area for your mortgage company.
This is another way to look at it. It sounds like a contradiction to be more organized by having to do the same things all the time, but if you are getting a lot of work done in one area, then it seems like you are likely to be more organized there as well.
If the previous statement is true, this one statement is true too. Not only does having a vertical structure help you organize your entire life, but it helps you be more organized in your current work space. If you have a lot of stuff that you have to organize into a linear way, there will be more of a cognitive load when you are doing that work.
There is also an additional benefit to having a vertical structure: you are more likely to get rid of stuff that is not needed and are thus freeing up space for other things. That sounds obvious, but it’s worth noting.
Vertical organization is also great for keeping your desk tidy. It can make it easy to keep track of what you have to do, and it’s also great because you are more likely to finish your tasks, which is an important part of being organized. Keeping stuff in order is part of being a human. It’s not the same as having a mental plan, but it’s important.
Vertical organization in my own organization is not as easy as just keeping everything in the same spot. You are better off having a logical series of folders that have one in mind that should be at the top. This also means when you do find yourself needing to move stuff from place to place, you are less likely to have a massive mess.
Vertical organization is when something is placed at the top of one or more folders, usually folders are often called “collections.” The top of each collection are usually tasks so you are more likely to find your way through this process if you keep your collection organized.
